Chapter Thirty Three – An Exclamation Point

Last chapter was all about the legendary dragon finally appearing on the scene. It was a climactic occasion; so what happens next? Well, since we left off with the tail end of the battle still raging, that needed dealt with, and as I contemplated that, I realized there were a number of other matters that needed addressed as well…but I didn’t want to surrender the rapid pace and high tension of what I’d been building either; not just yet. Could I find a way to keep moving things along and not only tie some of the lose threads up from the last chapter, but alos put an exclamation point on them?! Let’s go check out how I did.

EHLSEWHERE Chapter Thirty Three

Old guys rule! That’s what I thought after reading the chapter. I have to say–as humbly as I can, that I loved both Dougerty’s and Ohrder’s way of handling their respective dilemmas. One of the things that can be so satisfying about writing is when you’ve got your characters fully developed and then you get to let them do some pretty cool things, and in a way that only they could. I think that worked here. As far as the rest of the chapter goes, over all, things kept moving along at a fast clip with plenty of tension hanging in the air, and the truest test of all…I just wanted to keep reading. The one thing I may take another look at is the king’s response to Ohrder’s flippant manner. Even so, I think this is one of the most complete and compelling chapters so far. I hope you liked it too.

Let your light shine for the Lord and my you receive it in kind,

Mike
