Chapter Thirteen – Loose Threads

Before starting this chapter, I stopped to consider where I was in the story. Wondering if I’d reached the point where all the main themes, plots, subplots and characters had been introduced? The answer was…not quite. But, I then I started taking inventory of what I already had going on and I realized I had a subplot dilemma–a loose thread, that needed dealt with sooner than later. It had to do with Dougerty, and how a man like that wouldn’t just sit idly by, especially after receiving a a visit from Ohrder, and realizing that the wizard’s friends weren’t just ordinary street thugs. When I considered how Dougerty might handle such a situation it made for a pretty interesting chapter outline. So, after playing around with it in my head for a bit, I got busy typing. Let’s see how it turned out.

EHLSEWHERE Chapter Thirteen

When a chapter ends after it seems like you’ve just started reading it, that’s a good thing, and I think that happens here. I was also able to expand on Dougerty’s spiritual background, which, though it will likely remain a background item, is still an important story element. As far as things that need fixing goes, I’m thinking the writing needs polishing verses any complete rewrite areas. But, I’m not sure that Juhstice–playing a basher, could have wandered around the city wearing a sword. Nor am I absolutely comfortable with him–being him, just walking away without a fight. I’ll keep pondering those things, but for now I’m pretty happy with the chapter overall.

As always, may the Lord shine his light and love upon you,

Mike
